Newspaper write-ups on the Tigers:

"Defense Key for Tigers"
The Tigers have rung up seven shut outs in as many outings this season and that performance has earned them the number 2 spot in the LSWA Class ratings.  The Islanders have outscored their opponents 186-0.  Through seven games the opposition has earned a combined 211 yards rushing and 202 yards passing for a total yardage of 413.  The opposition has had to struggle for that.

"Tigers Win in Game of the Year"
The game of the year went according to form as Sicily Island's immovable defense proved the difference in a battle for the District 2-A South half playoff spot, giving the top-ranked Tigers a 14-6 win over the sixth-ranked Davidson Warriors from St. Joseph.  Davidson proved to be the team to penetrate the tough Tiger defense and posted the first points of the season against Sicily Island.

"Tigers Finish Football Season 12-1-0"
The Sicily Island Tigers, starting off the season with inexperience, rising to the number one rating in Class A football, had their long season ended in Baton Rouge when Southern Lab defeated the Catahoula team 12-6 in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.  "We were well pleased with the performances of the boys this season," Coach Raymond Peace said, "and this was one of the finest bunch of boys I have ever coached."
