  1. I have been searching for this type of recipe for years. A coworker told me her mother use to make apple dumplings in boiling water. I had never heard of that before. Today, I discovered this recipe. Being from the North, I didn't go far enough South in the past, and was unsuccessful to find it. I thought I would find it in Georgia. But I didn't. I'm delighted to have come across this recipe today. Thanks for posting this very old deep Southern recipe from the past of the bayou!

  2. My mother used to make these for my sister's birthday in October. We had an apple tree in the yard and she used the apples from that tree. We always had this dessert late in the evening, which made it extra special. We used to pour a little heavy cream over the hot dumplings and sauce.
