Served as Captain in Company K, Louisiana 1st Cavalry
Confederate States of America


 

Captain William Lego Ditto, Jr. was born in Kentucky to the marriage of William Lego Ditto, Sr. and Martha Kirkland Smith.  

After moving to Louisiana he met and married Levinia Holstein on January 31, 1855 in Catahoula Parish.

Levinia was the daughter of David Gibson Holstein and Camilla Lightner.

  1. Hi, according to the Federal Rolls of the Prisoners of War, he was captured Jul.30,1863 at Big Hill, KY.. He was
    received at the military prison, in Louisville, KY, on Aug.3,1863, and forwarded to Johnson's Island, OH, on Aug.
    4,1863. He was paroled at Johnson's Island and transferred to to Point Lookout, Maryland, for exchange on Mar.
    14,1865. Received at Cox's Warf, James River, VA. on Mar.22,1865, and exchanged.
