John F. Guice
Sicily Island (Special)--
Funeral services for John Fielding Guice, 75, of Sicily Island were to be held at 11 a.m. today in Pine Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. F. K. Shipp officiating.
Burial was to be in Old Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia.
Mr. Guice died Sunday night in Concordia Parish Hospital in Ferriday after a lengthy illness.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Janie Guice, Sicily Island; four sons, Friley, Lester and Loma Guice, all of Sicily Island and Herd Guice, Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mrs. J. R. Wells, Sicily Island and Mrs. Bishop Monroe, Ruston; one brother, D. E. Guice, Sicily Island, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
John Fielding Guice was born in Sicily Island on May 13, 1892 to the marriage of Christopher Columbus Guice and Sarah Elizabeth McCarty. He married Mary Janie Langston circa 1917 and had the following children:

Elois, 1922-2003 (m. Bishop Monroe, 1914-2002)

Lester Langston, 1929-2001 (m. Goldie Eubanks, 1937)
Loma Dean, 1932-2012 (m. Leona Hackney, 1935)
Woodie Dempsey, 1935-1936
