John Egloff Family

John E. Egloff, Sr. was born in 1832.  His application for U.S. Naturalization in 1854 shows his country of birth or allegiance as Burne (also known as Bern or Berne).  Burne, located in Switzerland, was a part of Prussia until about 1848.


On January 17, 1861, John E. Egloff, Sr., married Irma Melecie Stoufflet in Terrebonne Parish.  They would begin their family the following year with many, many descendants to follow.

John, Sr.'s date of death is uncertain.  A search of census records returns no results after 1910.  Irma died on September 30, 1923.

The following children were born to the marriage of John E. Egloff, Sr. and Irma Melecie Stoufflet:

1.  John E., Jr., 1862-1941 (m. Mary Eve Belanger, 1863-1947);  Both are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.


Children born to this marriage were:

Nora, 1885-1946 (m. Jacob Wolf Watson, 1874-1928)

Marie Allie, 1890-? (m. William I. Gillespie, 1861-1943)

Ada, 1893-1973 (m. 1.  Walter Samuel Nelson, 1871-1946; 2. Ragsdale); Ada and Walter are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.


Sidney J., 1895-1954 (m. Dixie Mae, 1904-1982); Both are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.


Daisy, 1897-1988 (m. Leo Ithaniel Nelson, 1894-1965); Both are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.


Lillie, 1903-1981 (m. Jesse Mathew Nelson, 1892-1955); The location of Lillie's burial is unknown at this time.  Jesse is buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.

 King Gibson, 1906-?

2.  Josephine, 1865-1943 (m. George Luther Taylor, 1872-1910); Both are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.


Children born to this marriage were:

Emile Hearn, 1892-1948 (m. Gayzella Lucas, 1911-1980); Both are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.


John W., 1894-?

Charles A., 1897-1978 (m. Levia Tullos, 1896-1982); Both are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.

Martha Gertrude "Mattie", 1893-1983 (m. 1. John Rankin Arnold, 1885-1961; 2. Jesse James Jenks, 1907-?); Mattie and family made their homes in Texas.

  2. I believe Nora and Jacob Wolf Watson are the parents of C.W. Watson, my great-great grandfather. Its challenging finding further information as I believe she remarried and her last name changed to Chapman.

Alfred Egloff divorced Ola Morgan Egloff in the late 30's after she ran off with another man, there was 3 children from their marriage: Arthur Curry Egloff 1/8/28 to 8/2/2014 buried in Legion Mem. Cem in Newellton, La. , Clarence Lee Egloff deceased buried in Mulhearn cemetery in Monroe, La.; and Lottie Mae Egloff buried in Shreveport, La. he later married Jackie M. Egloff and they had 3 children: Don Egloff, Dorothy Egloff, Jerry Egloff, and Myra Dale Egloff. He later married again to Bertha Egloff (deceased) and she had one child Dina Egloff who lives in Tex.
