Thomas J. Winstead was born on December 19, 1889 to the marriage of Thomas Jefferson Winstead and Nettie Juanita Moore. He was a brother to Berta A. Winstead Knight.
Thomas died on April 9, 1896 and is buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana.
