Joel M. Cooper Family

Lawrence Martin Cooper was born on January 22, 1832 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.  He moved to Mississippi and in 1866, he married Emily Wooly who was born in 1841 in Mississippi.

Lawrence Martin Cooper died on February 25, 1928 and Emily Wooly Cooper died in 1923.  Both are buried in the Society Hill Cemetery in Prentiss, Jefferson Davis, Mississippi.  (Editor's note:  tombstone photographs are courtesy of Natalie Maynor at FindAGrave.com)








Two of the children born to this marriage made their homes in Sicily Island.  One of the two was John Griffin Cooper.  The other was Joel M. Cooper.

Joel M. Cooper was born on December 10, 1869 in south Louisiana.  He married Minerva Alafair Robbins on November 10, 1888 in Lawrence County, Mississippi.  Alafair was born in Marion County, Mississippi on January 13, 1874 to Absalom and Nancy Jane Polk Robbins.

Joel M. Cooper died on May 3, 1958 and Minerva Alafair Robbins Cooper died on May 25, 1941.  Both are buried in the Society Hill Cemetery in Prentiss, Jefferson Davis, Mississippi.  (Editor's note:  tombstone photographs are courtesy of Lawanna Barnett at FindAGrave.com)
