Cornick Family of Sicily Island

Charles Acia Cornick was born in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi on September 20, 1869 to the marriage of Vaschel M. and Mary J. Cornick.  He moved to the Sicily Island area circa 1900 where he met and married Zelia Doniphan.  Zelia was born on January 27, 1874 to the marriage of Dr. Henry Slaughter Doniphan and Amelia King Scott.

In the early 1900s, Charles Cornick purchased Battleground Plantation which had been built in 1829-1830 by Dr. Henry J. Peck.

Charles Acia Cornick died on March 3, 1943 in Harris County, Texas and Zelia Doniphan Cornick died on August 13, 1959 in Travis County, Texas.  Both are buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.


The following children were born to the marriage of Charles Acia Cornick and Zelia Doniphan:

Charles Vachel was born in Sicily Island on July 6, 1906 and died on January 21, 1934.  He is buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island.
 

Henry Wallace was born in Sicily Island on August 27, 1908.  He married Elizabeth Gould who was born on February 4, 1912 to the marriage of Albert and Pauline Gould of Williamson County, Texas.

Henry Wallace Cornick died on November 15, 1988 in Travis County, Texas and Elizabeth Gould Cornick died on September 15, 1991 in Travis County, Texas.  Both are buried in the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor, Williamson, Texas.  (Editor's note:  tombstone photograph is courtesy of John Christeson at FindAGrave.com)
