Dr. Richard Henry Norris Family

Richard Henry Norris was born on August 3, 1803 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.  From a letter written by one of his grandchildren, it was learned that Richard Henry Norris graduated as a medical doctor from Transylvania College in Kentucky.

Dr. Norris married Harriet Perry circa 1838.  Harriet's first marriage was to Zachariah T. Kirkland in 1821.  Zachariah Kirkland died circa 1837-38.  Julia Patience Kirkland, daughter of Harriet and Zachariah T. Kirkland, married John Henry Lovelace.

Pine Hill Plantation was built by Zachariah and Harriet Perry Kirkland and is located on highway 913 near Sicily Island.

Dr. Richard Henry Norris died in January of 1860 and is buried in the Norris Cemetery in Sicily Island.  It is believed that his wife is also buried in the Norris Cemetery, though no marker has been found to date.
