Walter Bullard "Bunk" Taliaferro (1907-1969)



Bunk Taliaferro was born in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana on October 15, 1907.  He was the son of Henry Bullard Taliaferro, Jr. and Carrie Mae Dosher.

His siblings included Mary Elizabeth (Huff), Lucille (Randall) and Lottie Mae (Shamblin).

On August 7, 1936 he married Augusta Krause of Sicily Island.

Bunk Taliaferro was memorialized in the 1969 Sicily Island High School yearbook, El Tigre.

In grateful memory, the staff of El Tigre dedicates the 1968-69 edition to W. B. Taliaferro, who gave of his time, talents, money, and heart to this school.  No task was too menial for his efforts, no child too insignificant for his care, and no journey too long for his companionship.  Our lives have been enriched and blessed by "Uncle Bunk" having come our way.

Walter Bullard "Bunk" Taliaferro died on January 31, 1969 and is buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana.  Tombstone photograph was taken by FindAGrave members, Karl and Paula T. Morley
