Jessie Mae Smith was born on October 12, 1926 to the marriage of Earl Smith and Isabelle Evans. She was the granddaughter of James Denman Smith and Margaret "Maggie" Luvenia Conn and the great niece of John Nix Conn.
Jessie Mae died on November 19, 1934 and is buried in the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana.
